StahlWorks Technologies, company founded and owned by experienced software engineer Vincenth Stahl, came up with the Depeche View application as part of its mission to provide useful tools to software professionals who work with incredibly large amounts of text. With this application you can load and view only a single text file, or you can load thousands of text files. Once loaded, you can view, edit, search, copy, and bookmark text.

3.2MB is the size of the Depeche View installation file. Even on a less than spectacular internet connection, it will take but a moment to download the file. The same can be said about installing Depeche View. After you choose the installation directory, the installation process will complete in a blink. You will find Depeche View in the Start menu as the application does not put a shortcut on your desktop.

Front and center on the application’s interface there’s a piece of text that tells you precisely what you can do with Depeche View: open all text from a folder or a single file. In the upper left hand side there’s the traditional File menu. To the right, in the upper and lower corner, there are some handy buttons related to the application’s functionality.

Speaking about functionality, click on the Open button and you will be presented with several options. You can load text from a single file, load text from all the files in a folder, load clipboard content, append text from a file or a folder, and append clipboard content. Say you choose to load text from a single file – once you select the file, you can even select archives, the text content inside it will be presented in Depeche View’s interface. You can then edit it, bookmark it, highlight it, copy it to the clipboard, view text content in multiple windows, search for text, and use extended mouse buttons and hotkeys to launch external programs.

All the functionality that Depeche View offers can be evaluated free of charge for a trial period of 15 days.

The best advice I can give you is to give Depeche View a try. It’s a must have tool for anyone who handles tons of text.

Pros

In very little time you will have Depeche View installed on your Windows-powered machine (32 or 64-bit editions of Xp, Vista, or Windows 7). Load text content from a single file or from thousands of files from a folder. View, edit, bookmark, search, bookmark text, view text in multiple windows. Use hotkeys to launch external programs.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 15 days.
